Chennai city, located in South India, has been specified the 9th best cosmopolitan city in the World.
It is a versatile city; where you name it, Chennai excels in it. It is also a hub for automobile industry, hence often referred to as 'Detroit of India'.
Not just its economy, even Chennai people never failed to amaze us with their friendly and happy-go-lucky attitude and soul-satisfying food! yeah!! :D Though we are astonished by the new infrastructural, cultural developments of Chennai city each day, i have tried to filter out the best possible ways for a visitor to do in Chennai!

Top 10 things to do in Chennai

1.Visit the World's second longest beach
      Marina Beach is said to be the second longest natural urban beach in the world, which runs 13 km     long, along the coast of Bay of Bengal.
    This sandy beach can be enjoyed with some exotic delicacies such as fresh sea fish fries and               peanut salads which are sold alongside!
    Flying kites over the long sea and merry rides are the entertaining factors for kids..



2.Drive along the East Coast Road 

      This long drive of appx 145 km distance along the clear waters of Bay of Bengal, is a chilling           experience. East Coast Road starts from the heart of chennai city and trails towards a coastal area       Cuddalore, a french dominated union territory. During the journey, you will bump upon                       Muttukadu Boat House, which is famous for its  backwater boating..
        Meanwhile, along the coromandel coast, the anatomy of fishing and fishermen's lives can
     be felt sensibly during this travel.


3.Get startled by the stunning ancient architecture
      Mahabalipuram a.k.a Mammallapuram is truly an epitome of architectural engineering. A Shore temple is located near the sea shore, which was earlier used to be the trading centre, representing South India. Chariot temple, Cave sanctuaries and many more architectural legacies adorn this shore.


      Situated 60 km South from the Chennai city on the East Coast Road, this has been  classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And never forget to flip through the art sculpture shops available near shore temple.



4.Watch out for some Crocodiles!!
      Yes, its a crocodile bank. This Crocbank breeds several species of crocodiles, turtles
and supplies them to wild life parks in india and around the world..

       This clean beach is the end point of Marina beach. Its a popular hangout place amongst youth and you will find many global chain of fast food restaurants on the beach road. And grab a few handmade sea shell ornaments sold along the beach road. It is totally eye-catching!


 

6. A sneak-peek into Indian classical academy, Kalakshetra Foundation! 



 Kalakshetra Foundation is an art and cultural academy which exhibits and preserves the traditional Indian classical dance and music. This traditional Bharatanatyam dance fine tunes both our body and mind.


     
        Many enthusiastic foreign students are learning here. Visitors are allowed to walk around the campus. Trying out few dance movements here, wouldnt be a bad idea! :)


 

7. Rejuvenating stroll through the Theosophical society gardens.


     
     Spreading over 200 acres, this garden is located in Adyar of Chennai city. Strolling along the serene environment while watching chirping birds and having a glimpse of church, mosque and temple inside is a visual treat.
This garden has a 450 year old World's oldest Banyan tree.
